Café de Olla An ideal pick-me-up to get you through those tough Monday mornings, especially as it can be made ahead of time and reheated when needed:

  1. In a pot (preferably clay), combine the water, piloncillo, star anise, and cinnamon sticks and bring to a boil.
  2. Once the piloncillo dissolves, add the orange peel.
  3. When boiling, stir in the coffee vigorously for 5 seconds as the coffee rises, then remove from the heat.
  4. Cover and let sit for 5 minutes. Ladle right out of the pot and drink hot.
