Avocado, native to Mexico, produces a fleshy fruit used widely in Mexican cuisine. The leaves are also used for different purposes, widely used in Oaxacan, Chiapas and Puebla cuisine in Mexico. They can be used fresh, dried or powdered. The flavour of the leaves is similar to that of the avocado, but sweeter and with a hint of anise. Avocado leaves are used mainly in the preparation of marinades, stews and sauces. It can be used as a substitute for Epazote in soups and stews. Try them in herbal cream soups, beans, tamales, quesadillas, mixiotes, lamb and stews.
Storage:
Place the remaining powder in an air tight jar/ container and keep in a cool, dry place.
