Spicy Marinated Panela Cheese

Ingredients:

  • ½ kilo (about 1.1 pounds) of Panela cheese
  • 6 cloves of garlic, chopped or crushed
  • ½ cup of olive oil
  • ¼ cup of dried oregano
  • ¼ cup of finely chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of “El Yucateco” Hot Sauce

Preparation:

  1. Pierce the Panela cheese with a fork or a knife with a fine point in several places.
  2. Combine the garlic, olive oil, oregano, parsley, salt, and hot sauce in a bowl. Mix everything well.
  3. Bathe the Panela cheese with this mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 2 hours, occasionally reapplying the marinade to the cheese.
  4. Preheat your oven to 180°C (approximately 356°F). Place the marinated cheese in a casserole dish or a baking dish.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes. The cheese can be served over tostadas or with bolillo bread.
