Shrimp Gorditas
Ingredients
- 2 cups of Naturelo Harino De Maiz Azul
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1.1 pounds (approx. 500 grams) of small shrimp, cleaned
- 3.52 ounces (approx. 100 grams) of green tomatoes
- 1 serrano pepper
- 1 tablespoon of chopped onion
- ½ cup of clean and toasted pumpkin seeds
- 2 cloves
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
-
In a hot frying pan, add 3 tablespoons of oil. Add enough shrimp to cover the pan's surface and fry on both sides. Once cooked, set aside, and repeat the process until all the shrimp are cooked.
-
Mix the green tomatoes, serrano pepper, onion, cloves, and pumpkin seeds in a blender.
Add the remaining oil to the pan and fry the blended sauce. Season to taste, and add the cooked shrimp to the sauce.
-
Mix the Naturelo Harino De Maiz Azul in a bowl with warm water until you form a soft and uniform dough. Divide the dough into 10 portions and form small masa balls. Flatten each ball with your hands to form little patties (gorditas), and cook them on a grill with some oil.
-
Once cooked, make a slit halfway through each gordita with a small knife and fill them with the shrimp mixture.
