Serrano Chili

Serrano Chili is similar to the jalapeño in shape but smaller in size. The serrano chili is a more meaty chili and has a thinner skin.

A serrano is hotter than a jalapeño and has a medium to hot heat which is therefore not suitable for drying. Serranos are best roasted or used in salsas or sauces. The serrano pepper comes from the Mexican states of Hidalgo and Puebla and their name refers to the sierras - mountainous regions from where they originate.
